Salvador Allende
“Reading this book leads us to the conviction that we are dealing with a man who united theory and practice. However, the general public's appreciation tends to overemphasize this latter aspect, creating a paradox. His own political actions, coupled with his role as a popular educator for the masses, obscured this personality trait; thus, the Selected Works themselves rescue and highlight Allende's quality as an "organic intellectual." The quality of a leader and political actor is directly proportional to the quality of a thinker. A careful reading of his discourse leads from the simple to the complex. In his early writings, there would be gaps that time and reality would gradually develop, managing to respond to the many challenges faced, until his final writings contain theoretical paradigms that are extremely useful today. However, it is necessary for new generations to overcome the shortcomings of the proposed formulations; this would mean extracting the lessons that this vital man left for history.”
